Society of Illustrator Student Scholarship

Wow~ Just got a GREAT news earlier this week: I got a scholarship from the Society of Illustrator student competition!! And, YES, that's the first "award-winning" artwork in my life. One of the prizes I got is a full scholarship for a summer Master Painting Class (organized by Imagine FX). I am SO EXCITED about the summer painting class after scanning through its website; I will have several famous illustrators/ artists as my instructors: Greg Manchess !! Dan DosSantos !! Boris Vallejo !! & Jon Foster !! OMG, they are all the artists I admired for a long time. Can't wait for the workshop and learning from those great artists.

Wow, everything is so unexpected at all. Lucky me ;)
OK! go back to work now.

Follow the Provensen's

The explorer and his camel

The plague monster

Explorer's country house

Recently, I fall in love with Alice & Martin Provensen's graphic style; so, I decided to adopt it to my current school project.
This is the first time in my life to work in such "flat" style and I have SO MUCH fun to play with graphic shapes!! but, somehow I can't capture the "innocent" and playful quality in the Provensen's works....
anyway, I like this style a lot and will develop it more in the future for sure.

Circus !!

Ok, ok ~, finally I have something new worthy to show here.
This is the WIP piece for "Water For Elephant": an establishing shot of the circus in 30's.
Enjoy~ and feel free to leave me some comments. Thanks!

"The Drowned Giant"

I really enjoy doing VizDev pieces for this story. There are actually a lot of possibilities and intriguing story moments I wanna illustrate. This is the scene which shows the town people found the drowned giant on the beach at night.
Still, there are a lot of minor things needed to be fixed and changed. It's not perfect yet.
